monochromatic dressing

So I just got back from vacation and after overindulging in pina coladas and nachos for a week, I’m looking a little fluffy.  Monochromatic dressing to look thinner is a great way to camouflage some extra weight.

Monochromatic dressing not only makes us look thinner but is also very in fashion right now.  I prefer doing monochromatic in blacks and grays but it can be done in any color.

Nordstrom NYDJ Trousers ($114)

These pants have a higher rise in a charcoal grey to give a slimming effect

Nordstrom Top Shop Blazer ($75)

I like this blazer because it hits at the thigh and covers your bum giving a nice elongating look

Nordstrom BP Ruffle Neck Top ($45)

This top skims the body and the ruffles on the chest brings the eye upward and not to your belly

Old Navy High Rise Rockstar Skinny Jeans ($35)

High rise black jeans are always slimming

Nordstrom Halogen Long Cardigan ($68)

A long black cardigan is a must have for every woman’s wardrobe

Nordstrom Sub_Urban Riot Graphic Tee ($34)

I love how these tees skim the body and hide imperfections while not being frumpy

Here are a few more tops that would look great under a blazer or cardigan

old navy jeans

Old Navy Secret-Soft Rockstar Jeans ($40)

These jeans are a pretty dark charcoal grey that are very slimming and look great with a black blazer or cardigan.

Other ways to look thinner

Wearing long necklaces and pointed toe shoes help you to look thinner.  Also don’t forget the power of Spanx!

Monochromatic dressing will make you look thinner and also is very chic.  Staying on the dressing thinner trend, I will be sharing my picks for the most slimming and flattering jeans in my next post.  I hope everyone had a great New Year and I will talk to you soon.  XOXO Michelle

  1. I need to keep these tips in mind more often before heading out the door. I usually just put on whatever I “think” will look good, but it’s not always the case. Haha. Thank you for the great tips!

  2. I love monochromatic outfits! I definitely think the cut of these items is important too, especially when doing all one color. The lace detail on that Nordstrom camisole definitely lends itself to helping create a more slim silhouette!
